PR is the same with
Advertising

While it is tempting to
put PR and Advertising in the same WhatsApp group, both of them play different
roles. To buttress this point, let us look at their definitions. The Public
Relations Society of America defines Public Relation as “a strategic communication
process that builds mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and
their publics.”

Advertising on the other
hand is a marketing communication that employs an openly sponsored,
non-personal message to promote or sell a product, service or idea (William J. Stanton. Fundamentals of Marketing. McGraw-Hill).
Both are communication tools but the objectives for which they are used are
clearly different.
